This course is designed around building your understanding around the role of emerging technologies in facilitating value chain innovation. Using the Waitrose food waste reduction initiative, Dr. Vijayender demonstrates how retailers can re-define their value proposition and create a positive pull effect on other value chain players to the adoption of the right technologies in facilitating a profitable and sustainable value chain. Specifically and An Innovative technology called "Controlled Instantaneous Pressure Drop (CIPD)" is used to demonstrate how the production, processing and distribution can align themselves to deliver differentiated shopper value. The case of Horticulture and rice value chains are used as demonstration scenarios for creating added value. The course specifically delivers on the following:
1. Improving your understanding related to the concept of circular value chains
2. Improving your ability to assess disruptive technology interventions that can facilitate circular value chains
3. Improving your ability to conceptualize and execute entrepreneurial opportunities within food and agribusiness

Specifically, the emphasis is on how altering/adjusting the design is critical to create, deliver and capture value. Specifically, the role of incentives in changing the behavior and decision making dynamics of the value chains players will be brought of through different courses. If you choose to enroll in the pathway, you'll have the option to receive an extra certificate upon completing the reflection exercise for the pathway.
