Business Model Design Case - Produce Pay (AGFI)

Description
• Course Pitch
The cyclical nature of agriculture leads to seasonal variations in cash flows for growers. Unfortunately, timely access to financing can be challenging due to limited viable credit options. Often, it's the produce aggregators and distributors who step in to provide the necessary funding to growers, but this assistance typically comes with high-interest rates and inefficiency.
ProducePay, a Los Angeles-based AgriFinTech startup, is transforming the dynamics of transactions between fresh produce growers in Mexico and South America and distributors in the USA. Traditionally, it takes distributors anywhere from 45 to 70 days to settle payments with growers after receiving their produce. However, ProducePay has disrupted this value chain by creating a platform that connects growers and distributors. Through this marketplace, ProducePay provides instant payments to the growers as soon as their harvested produce reaches the distributor.
By the end of this course, you will be able to
